Mum Luminary

I recently purchased a Brother Scan N Cut and have been having a lot of fun creating both cards and home decorations like this Mum Luminary from Dreaming Tree (  The video directions on their website are very easy to follow along.  I've used two small battery operated tea lights for the illumination.  One at the top inside the flower and the other inside the base where the light can shine through the vellum.

Springtime Memories
I got this Bleeding Heart plant when we purchased our first home in 1978.  Each year it bloomed in the front garden of that house out the living room window.  After ten years we moved as our family grew and I decided that I would bring it with us.  Each year it grew larger and more beautiful with delicate flowers now gracing our backyard springtime garden.  We recently sold that home after 25 years and started to downsize.   I decided to leave this plant for the new family... a hard choice since this plant has been with me longer than any of my children!  I hope it continues to bring enjoyment.

These are the two new punches I've just gotten.  The Stampin Up Build A Blossom punch and Build a Bird punch.  I had so much fun making the owls from my last post that I wanted to try these also.  I believe the Build A Blossom punch has been discontinued, but the Build A Bird is in the current catalogue.  I'll post soon with what I come up with!

Back in Five ....

It's been a busy five years with grandchildren, selling homes, relocating, etc.  The last time I had a post was five years ago and my first granddaughter had just been born.  I am now the grandmother of three beautiful girls. And, as any grandmother will tell you, it is just the best!

The one constant though has been paper crafting.  I've still been enjoying making cards and scrapbooking, although not with the consistency I was able to do before. But now that our relocation is complete and all my things are back in place (and I am retired!) I am finding more time to have fun!

My latest purchase is from Stampin Up and is the Owl Builder punch.  When I purchased it I thought, wow what a cute way to make a little owl for a card or scrapbook page.  I started looking at different websites and blogs and saw how many different things you can do with this punch. It is so versatile. Here are just a few of the cards I've made.

America card was made cutting the ears off of the owl body to make this patriotic bird. The hearts on each side are also from the punch. An embossing folder was used on the white background paper as well as the starred red background.

These cute fish along with their bubbles also came from the owl punch.  I took the original owl "body" and used a single cut to make this cute fish.  The lips are the heart from the punch. The background is an embossing folder that I've inked lightly with blue ink.

These little chicks were made by again cutting the ears off of the owl body.  The fence and leaves are sizzix dies. The flower is made using a five petal punch.

Name place card using the owl punch.  The wings are a scallop punch which I've cut in half.
This "onesie" card was made by cutting the owl body out of decorative paper and this time cutting off the cute little feet.  Cutting off the bottom of the owl "shirt" section makes a nice collar.

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be updating and sprucing up Pondering and Paper. Thanks for taking a look. Have a great day!
